Welcome to Proof & Prose

Proof & Prose was born of books and beer.

The idea to create a blog based on my own erratic reading tastes came about one winter evening as I sat at my local brewery reading Stealing Rembrandts: The Untold Stories of Notorious Art Heists by Anthony M. Amore and Tom Mashberg. As I nursed a particularly hoppy IPA, it dawned on me that the bitterness of the beer was reminiscent of the bitterness in the art world of my book as renowned galleries and museums continued to lose invaluable masterpieces to often comically inept thieves. That moment sparked the realization: every book could be paired with a cocktail (or beer, or wine, or mocktail) that represents its very essence. And that liquid doppelganger might tell you more about a book than any words could, or at least add a new dimension to it.

So Proof & Prose was born. The books bring the prose, the drinks bring the proof (including zero proof).

What to expect now that you’re part of the Proof & Prose club:

  • Book reviews paired with perfect drinks that capture its spirit.

  • Last Calls. Quick thoughts from the life of a bookworm.

  • Articles about reading and book culture.

Whether it’s a serious review, a fun pairing, or a small rant, my goal is the same: to celebrate books and all that they can inspire in our lives.

So pull up a chair and let’s dive into some stories worth sipping on.
